The Basics: Once a Month
When it comes to car care, performing some of the simplest measures can save you lots of time and money in the long run. It can also help you avoid costly problems in the future, like engine or brake failure.
Begin giving your Corsair the care it needs by getting back to basics. Once a month, you should use the dipstick to check your car's oil level and condition. The oil provides the lubrication the engine components need to stay cool, so ensuring it's is in good shape is vital.
Also, take a look at the interior and exterior lights and have the bulbs replaced as needed. Your visibility—especially on the roadway—is critical. Checking your car's lights during daytime hours under controlled conditions can help you avoid unexpectedly having to drive in the dark.
To top off your monthly lookover of your vehicle, examine the tires to be sure they are not cracking or showing severely low treads. If they are, it’s time to change them.
Every Six Months
Next are the small inspections that you’ll need to have done at our service center every six months. These items include:
- Checking the battery connections and condition
- Checking all fluid levels
- Examining the parking brake for proper operation
- Checking the condition of the wiper blades and replacing them, if needed
Having these items looked at by our service pros is essential, as they have the expertise and the equipment to easily get the job done.
Every Three Years
Your Lincoln Corsair manufacturer recommends that you have the brake fluid changed every three years. The brake fluid helps to maintain hydraulic pressure at the proper level within the brake system so that force is adequately transferred from the brake pedal to the tires.
7,500 to 10,000 Miles
Some of the most common items of vehicle maintenance are next on the list. Every 7,500 to 10,000 miles, it is recommended that you have the following tasks completed:
- Oil and oil filter change
- Tire rotation
- Automatic transmission fluid checked
- Brake pads and rotors examined and replaced when necessary
Though these items are among the easiest to complete, they go a long way toward preventing engine failure and accidents. The intervals for these forms of maintenance can vary depending on your typical driving habits and conditions.
